The main need in the event of a “crisis” is to meet the urgent need for its management. The term “crisis” can refer both to natural catastrophic events such as earthquakes or floods, or to “critical” events for a company like the collapse of the Internet which for an e-commerce company would be decisively catastrophic.
Generally diverse persons, groups and sometimes organizations need to be involved in the management of a crisis; the main problem is the coordination of all these “players” in the urgency which has been created and to have a centralized management in order to achieve, as rapidly as possible, a resolution.
This requires a tool that allows keeping under control all the steps of the management of a crisis in order to have a centralized and coordinated vision of the activities undertaken. The crisis management tool Kriu4CM enables this management of crises due to natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, and overflows; to potentially dangerous situations caused by riots, insurrections and terrorist acts; and to infrastructure problems and communication problems between various work sites.
Kriu4CM is able to monitor official news websites and any site that makes available information in order to identify possible critical problems. Faced with news of potential dangers a pre-crisis event is automatically opened. An pre-crisis event operator analyzes the news to understand, and if appropriate register it and the area of interest on a map, with the ability to view at any time the company property potentially impacted by the event.
In Italy these are sites like ANSA and the Italian Department of Civil Protection, in France, Agence France Presse (AFP), in Germany, Deutsche Presse-Agentur (DPA), in the U.K., Reuters, and in the U.S., Associated Press (AP))
If the pre-crisis operator evaluates the event as actually “dangerous” for the company, the operator will associate the pre-crisis event to an actual crisis event, triggering a series of activities which can involve managers with diverse roles to assist in the resolution of the crisis. Depending on their competency level, operators can view pre-crisis events and/or crisis events.
The research of catastrophic events is continuous, and, as often happens, different sources begin to report the same event simultaneously. Kriu4CM aggregates all the news related to the same catastrophic event even if the information comes from different sources. The pre-crisis operator can decide whether to keep the aggregation or whether to considered them as separate events. The operator can draw on the map the boundaries of the crisis impact, identifying the business premises directly impacted and the neighboring ones that could be affected, taking the details of each site and assigning it a status. He or she can also search for points of interest such as police stations, fire departments, hospitals that are in the same areas.
When the pre-crisis operator identifies the event as a crisis in process, this changes the status and transmits this to the crisis operator, as well as transferring all environmental and severity analysis previously applied. In the case in which the management procedures have already been identified the system will suggest the steps to be taken, otherwise, the operator defines the actions to be undertaken by all the crisis management players. The crisis will not be resolved until they are all completed.
Kriu4CM makes available instruments of chat and mass notification (email and SMS), in order to facilitate direct communication between operators, as well as various Business Intelligence Report types of tools, which can be customized by the customer.
Kriu4CM offers the opportunity to manage in a centralized way crises such as environmental disasters, natural disasters, socio-political and terrorist events, and also collapses of communications infrastructures that prevent the company from providing the services offered online.
The advantage lies in facilitating the coordination of all of the crisis management operations, by providing all the tools to detect the warning signs, to try to prevent it or prepare to face it, to contain it and to try to control the damage, attempting to keep active the business objectives to seek to recover as soon as possible
